Cores define the main Powers and Enhancements the player will have access on their run.
The Core cannot be changed during a run, and considering their impact in the possible Combat Buffs and effects that will be available to the player, it is the choice that will define the playstyle of that run. A few remarks for each Core is available below.
Cores
Cores are either Broken or Fully Restored. Broken Cores can only be equipped as Secondary Cores, while Fully Restored cores can be equipped as Primary Cores.
Other than the Adamant Core, which Ada has a natural affinity with it and it's Fully Restored when recovered from the first Overlord defeated, in order for players to Fully Restore the Overlord Cores, it is necessary to build affinity with it. This can be done by defeating their respective Overlord, in which the player will absorb the data from their encounter.
Building Affinity
Players start their journey with a Broken Adamant Core. The Fully Restored Core can be acquired when defeating their first Overlord. Once Ada recover the Core, it will immediately be at it's maximum affinity.
Overlord Cores are acquired when defeating their respective Overlords. Similar to the Adamant Core, they will be Broken when first acquired. However, by defeating the Overlords, the affinity with that Core will increase, Fully Restoring it and allowing it to be equipped as the Primary Core.
Ada can also acquire the Affinity Amplifier, allowing the player to increase their Affinity further, unlocking additional Shaper Hacks and Duo Core Enhancers.
Affinity Amplifier
Allows you to increase your cores' <style=Emphasis>Affinity</style> even further and unlock their full potency.
You may now increase the Affinity Level of your cores further than before.
Defeat Overlords to earn Affinity to their respective cores and upgrade them to unlock powerful new Shaper Hacks and Duo Core Enhancements.
In order to unlock it, players need to have unlocked both the Dash and Wall Jump.
On the last room of The Hideout, look to the right, and use Dash to cross the gap towards an opening of the platform, above a Core Gate.
Continue further through the door, where three moving pillars will allow you to jump towards a Jumping Pad. Use the Wall Jump again to reach above the nearby platform.
A smaller Lockdown needs to be cleared before the double doors open, allowing the Affinity Amplifier to be picked up.
Primary Cores
Fully Restored Cores can be equipped as a Primary Core, offering many enhancements to the player:
- Core Ability: An exclusive Power that pairs with the selection of Core Enhancers that will be made available. A list of the Core Abilities and the Preferred effects is available below.
- Preferred Effects: The Primary Core will provide many sources of a preferred effect. These effects can also interact with other features, such as weapons, abilities and Shaper Hacks.
- Additional Power: Overlord Cores also provide an additional Power, that will allow charging their Core Ability.
- Selection of Core Enhancers: All the unlocked Core Enhancers will be available if a Core is selected as Primary. Some of these Enhancements power up the Core Ability directly, and will not be available if the Core is equipped as secondary.
- Selection of Shaper Hacks: Additional Shaper Hacks will be available when certain Cores are equipped as Primary or as Secondary.
